Digital Templating

Our Process

Digital Templating

Start With a Consultation

Here at Change of Style Granite and Stone Ltd, we want to be certain that your worktops are tailored to fit your kitchen like a glove. The last thing you want is awkward gaps or excess wastage which can prove costly. With our professional digital templating services, you’ll never have to worry about gaps, mismatching worktop pieces or excess wastage. Our team will ensure that all worktop components are manufactured to fit your kitchen space perfectly.

Before we embark on manufacturing and installing any new worktops, we first start with a pre-planned visit to your home. During this visit, one of our highly experienced digital templaters will carefully measure the tops of your base units once they’ve been fixed into their final position. All units should be level to within 3mm, and our templaters will ensure that this is accomplished in-line with your project requirements.

For our templaters to complete their work, certain other criteria must also be met, including:

• Any plastering must have been completed
• Any temporary worktops (if installed) should have been removed

• Any end panels must be attached
• All appliances, sinks and taps must be on site

Once these requirements have been met, our team will create a detailed digital template that represents the final appearance of your new worktops.

Typically, we are able to carry out templating a week or so prior to installation. We’ll advise you, however, if any factors lead to this timescale being shortened or extended. All quotations are based on both the plan and measurements taken and the installation will then be based on the template. It is this template that will define the look and feel of your kitchen worktops. As such, we suggest that you be present while the templates are being created.

Factors to be considered

Of course, there are many factors which can impact any preparation and, if not accounted for, could seriously hinder the templating process. For instance, all base units must be prepared correctly, must be sturdy and must possess sufficient supports in order to withstand the weight of a granite worktop. As part of the templating process, we can advise you on whether additional support is required.

We’ll also take into account situations where the carcasses of any base units need to be brought off the wall. If this happens, the amount of overhang will shrink, so therefore this must be accounted for early to avoid any costly ramifications. Similar considerations must be made when factoring in sinks and hobs too as, in many cases, these must be integrated directly into the worktops.

Certain sinks and sink configurations are not suitable for granite or quartz worktops. Our team will be happy to advise you if you have any questions regarding the suitability of your chosen sink or hob. Likewise, if you’re looking to install a dishwasher in your new kitchen, you should be advised that these can cause damage to granite worktops. If the dishwasher gets hot or overheats, it could cause the worktop to crack. To counter this, we can factor insulation into the template.

Of course, your new kitchen will require enough electricity and gas supply points to keep all of your appliances running. You’ll also require plumbing for your sink as well as other appliances, such as a dishwasher and washing machine too. At Change of Style Granite and Stone Ltd, we will ensure that any template takes these into account.

Please note, however, that our company is not certified to carry out any sort of electrical, plumbing or gas installation work. As such, you will need to make the appropriate arrangements with the relevant trade professionals to disconnect and reconnect your services. Our team provide a service that is most flexible, so we can fit in and around your work schedule.
